1.What to see?
Throughout the thousand years of its eventful history, marked by destruction, wars and natural calamities, Hà Nội still preserves many ancient architectural works including the Old Quarter and over 600 pagodas and temples. Famous sites include the One Pillar Pagoda (built in 1049), the Temple of Literature (built in 1070), Hà Nội Citadel, Hà Nội Opera House, President Hồ Chí Minh’s Mausoleum and so on.
1.1. Ho Chi Minh Complex
Firstly, you should visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex, which includes Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum – the final resting place of the beloved national hero, Uncle Ho – and President Ho Chi Minh’s stilt house where he lived off and on from 1958 to 1969.
1.2. One Pillar Pagoda
Then, you should visit the One Pillar Pagoda, which is actually a group of structures that collectively make up a pagoda built over the water in the middle of a square lake.
1.3. Tran Quoc Pagoda
After that, you should explore the Tran Quoc Pagoda on the shore of West lake – the biggest lake in Hanoi.
1.4. Temple of literature
From there, it’s onto the Temple of literature, which was Viet nam’s first university and is dedicated to Confucius.
1.5. Hoan Kiem Lake
Also, you should visit Hoan Kiem Lake – Ngoc Son Temple – the heart and soul of Hanoi.
1.6. MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY
MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY is another destination which you should visit. This superb museum showcases the depth of Vietnamese cultural diversity with an astounding collection of 15,000 artifacts gathered from throughout Vietnam. Maps, displays and dioramas are labelled in Vietnamese, French and English.Displays portray a typical village market, the making of comical hats and a Tay shamanic ceremony; videos show the real thing. You can also check out a traditional Black Thai house reconstructed in the museum. There’s also a centre for research and conservation where scientists from all over the world study traditional Vietnamese cultures.
1.7. Bat Trang ceramic village
Bat Trang ceramic village is a traditional village which is about 20 km away from Ha Noi, this is pottery village with a half- milleary historic development.
1.8. Perfume Pagoda
The beautiful verse describes scenic spot of Huong Pagoda (also known as Perfume Pagoda), designated by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site, which makes one can’t help having the feeling that is one were lost in a world of fairies. Huong Son attracts visitors not only with its wonderful landscape, but also with its sense of philosophy embodied inside its splendid caves, of which Huong Tich and Tuyet Son are the most impressive.
Visitors are bewitched by the beauty of these cases which look half real and half unreal. That explains the reason why the cold weather cannot keep thousands of pilgrims and tourists away from visiting the Huong Pagoda Festival in Hanoi, Vietnam, which is considered the nation’s longest and most elaborate annual festival.
1.9. Long Bien Bridge
Among all architectures in Hanoi, Long Bien Bridge is a witness to the resilience of Hanoi in the two resistance wars as well as the dramatic changes of this city in the new epoch.
2. What to eat?
2.1. Mango salad with squid & prawn (Nộm xoài hải sản)

2.3. Spring rolls (Nem rán Hanoi)
Spring roll is one of the most popular dishes of Vietnamese cuisine that can be found at any destination throughout the country. In Vietnamese, it is called “Nem Ran” by people in the north and “Cha Gio” by southerners. This mouth-watering dish is complicated with plenty of ingredients and takes much time to prepare and cook, but it is not difficult to make at home.
Spring roll is not an everyday dish but it is more preferred on special occasions such as family gatherings, family festivities or Tet holidays. It can be served as a main dish with dipping sauce, pickles and some herbs like lettuce, basil, coriander; or a side dish in some restaurants of Bun Cha (Grilled pork with Rice Vermicelli).
2.4. Sping rolls Hanoi style (Phở cuốn Hanoi)
The recipes of spring roll can vary significantly in different regions of Vietnam. Southern people would like the dish to be sweeter while inhabitants from the central region enjoy it spicier. There is no certain requirement for ingredients, the cooks can choose their preferences and tastes but usually, it comprises the following components:
• Meat: ground pork, crab meat (can be replaced by fresh shrimp or mantis shrimp)
2.5. Hanoi Traditional fried fish (Chả cá Hanoi)
Cha Ca (grilled fish) is not only delicious but interesting to figure out as well. It is regarded as the most complicated dish because of highly-required criterion from the very first process to the final step in order to maintain the fresh and unique taste of the fish, a kind of snake-headed family. Among which, seasoning is especially important and sensitive.
2.6. Hanoi traditional grilled Pork with Noodle (Bún chả)
Our bún chả Hanoi brings a mouthwatering combination of grilled pork patties (chả) and pork slices in a punchy dipping sauce served with vermicelli noodles (bún) and an abundance of fresh herbs.
2.7. Stir-fried chicken with lemon leave or cashew nut
This is one of my favourite family recipes, it is easy to make and the lemon leaves give the dish a fresh and lemony flavour.
2.8. Betel leaf wrapped pork/beef balls (Chả lát lốt)
Beef/ Pork wrapped in betel leaf is not only a simple dish but also a very tempting food that appears in every menu of every Vietnamese restaurant.
The dish has two ways of making: fry or grill but most people prefer grilled beef/pork wrapped in betel leaf. Because grilling is more simple and still remains fully it origin flavor of beef/pork after cooking.
2.9. Vietnamese Sandwich (Bánh Mỳ Thịt)
Vietnamese Sandwich h is appeared in Vietnam during French Colonialism, mazing French cuisine with Vietnamese.

3. What to do?
Besides visiting some famous destinations in Hanoi, you should see Water Puppet Show and discover the 36 ancient streets on the Electric Car or Cyclo.
4. Where to live?
Most tourists prefer to live in Hanoi Old Quarter to easily discover the ancient city and have tourist information. Also, most of tour will start from Hanoi Old Quarter so people will stay there for convenience.
5. Where to buy things?
Hanoi Night Market is a bustlin’ market in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Fully equipped with endless Vietnamese souvenirs and cheap goods, it’s a shopper’s paradise! There are countless stalls selling everything from handicrafts, paintings, gimmicky souvenirs, jewellery, clothes, and electronics. If you’re looking for exotic gifts for your family and friends back home, you can easily pick up thoughtful items such as a non la (traditional cone hat), customised paintings, or even a simple handmade pop-up card of a lady carrying baskets of fruit.
